Thu, 20 March 2008 Damn. Just when I thought the holiday gaming overload was over, another huge, amazing influx of games is headed our way! Can somebody please tell me how I'm supposed to play (and enjoy) Army of Two, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Smash Bros, GTA4, Patapon, God of War: Chains of Olympus and Mario Kart Wii Between working a 40-hour week, being the head of all media for a local band (www.chicagonetworkconnected.com), getting on some Call of Duty 4 with my fellow CAGs (www.cheapassgamer.com), and occasionally sleeping, I only have about 3 solid hours a day to actually play some games! My weekends are also pretty much booked, since I do have a family and friends that I need to see once in a while! So where do I begin? All of these games at once is diminishing the gameplay experience for a lot of these games at an alarming rate! ...damn...now I know how it feels to be a Pro Game Reviewer! -Simon D.I. Mon, 17 March 2008 So ever since I picked up a PS3, I've realized that NOBODY I know has one. Well, almost nobody. I've got a buddy at work who bought a PS3 at launch for the sole purpose of playing "Madden" online with his fellow sports friends. Anyways, when I found out he had a PS3, I convinced him to rent Call of Duty 4, since I didn't know anyone that I could play online with, and I already had played the hell out of the XBOX 360 version. So being a good friend, he played his first non-sports game just so that he can play online with me. Well, just like in the mafia...he did me a favor, and now I must do him a favor. That's right, folks, he asked me- NO-, he insisted, that I rent...MLB: the SHOW. Oh man. I don't think I've ever mentioned this...but I absolutely despise sports games! As a matter of fact, I can't stand Baseball or Football! Maybe this comes from growing up in Chicago, where we've had a civil war between the North and South Side for ages, and where we once had a great Basketball team, and where we once had a great football team. But none of that matters now, as I must do my part of the bargain, and I must pay $5+ to rent this game, I must invest 2+ hours (at least) to learn how to play, and then I must invest another 2-10+ hours to play online with this guy, because apparently he doesn't have many buddies playing online either! I'll definitely discuss this tragic situation in fine detail on episode #7. But until then, pray for me and wish me luck in my Journey of Sports and Sorrow. -Simon D I Category: general -- posted at: 11:43 AM Comments[1] |
Thu, 13 March 2008 ![]() In Episode #6, the Cyberpunk Brothers fight (physically and verbally) about Super Smash Bros. Brawl, their (shared) Internet Connection, the Street Fighter Series and ...the "Raging Demon." Also, the Punks talk about the new Post-Apocalyptic Cyberpunk film; DOOMSDAY. Overall, this is an extremely negative and angry episode :(

Wed, 12 March 2008 Hey, punks, what's goin' on? This isn't big enough of a deal to talk about on the actual podcast, so I figured I'd talk about it a little here in a good old-fashioned "blog post!" So as many of you remember, I have been talking about Lost Odyssey for a few weeks now. I was extremely excited since the beginning of the year, leading up to its release. Also, as some of you may remember, I ordered the game from GAMEFLY and it got stolen out of it's sleeve. After that, I finally got the game and was able to experience it's beauty for the first time. So, without making this a full-on review, I'll say this; The game definitely looks current-gen (that's a good thing), the music is VERY memorable, and the combat has a few cool new tweaks to the traditional Turn-Based RPG. One of the game's most innovative twists is that the enemies and bosses level up WITH YOU. So for those of us who love to grind for a few hours and have a nice advantage for a few hours...those days are over! This, of course, totally caught me off guard. The bosses are more like a puzzle game, in that there's a VERY specific way to defeat them...a very specific way that you will die half a dozen times trying to figure out. Now, I'm sure that many of you had no problem with these bosses, but I did, and after trying a good 10 times (10 tries on the boss battle = roughly 2 hours), I simply packaged the game up and sent it back to GAMEFLY. I loved the game, but I just can't play it anymore! I was listening to cheapassgamer.com's CAGcast, and the hosts, Cheapy D and Wombat were saying something along the lines of; "you know within the first 15 minutes of a game whether or not you will ever finish it." And this, I guess, applies to this game. Even though I was a good 3 hours in,...it's a 4-disc game, so that's about equivalent to 15 minutes, right? Anyways, I DO recommend the game,...I just sucked at it! -Simon D I Category: general -- posted at: 10:29 AM Comments[1] |
Mon, 10 March 2008 What's up, Cyberpunks? As you all know by now, Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Nintendo Wii came out on Sunday, March 9th. We attended the midnight launch at our local Gamestop, and proceeded to eat dozens of White Castle "Sliders" and play the game into the morning. However, when the smoke cleared, the friends left, and the party was over, Mike D.I. decided to try out the "Adventure Mode" to unlock some characters, trophies, and other cool stuff. To this very moment, twenty-four hours later, he is still playing what is, in my opinion, the worst "Adventure Mode" in any game, ever! I won't even go into it right now, because all that will accomplish is me writing a ten-page-long run-on sentence full of obscenities and offensive statements. But consider this a warning for this week's podcast (Episode #6), a warning that...may not be PG-13. I am extremely annoyed and angered over this aspect of an otherwise awesome game, and I want to go into explicit detail of why. Anyways, besides that, I look forward to the new episode, and thanks again for everyone who checked out #5, and who's subscribed to our show! We appreciate every listener! If you have any questions or comments for us to read on the air, post them here in the comments, or just throw 'em up in the forums (www.cyberpunksgaming.com)! Stay Hi-Tech and Lo-Life!
